UPDATED JUNE 2, 2011

Our final visit to the Pub in 2011 was a strong success, as 15 Pub Leaguers PubLeague'd it out. Jana E, in her first showing this season (those baby-things will impact a lady's attendance), swept in and dominated as usual for the night win and her $80 prize. Although Jana is out of the running for the MacKinnon Challenge Cup, she did set a new record for Pub Night wins (5). Congrats to Jana!

Our runner-up was Jason E, who does have a strong chance of winning the Cup - we'll see what happens June 25th!

Tara M runs the show, with our excited winner Jana E

Casey W takes a photo-op with newcomer Jen.

Pub League welcomes newcomer Jake W, shown with veteran Nicola A.

Other prizes for the night were Lee Ann C taking the trivia prize (for the second time in a row), and newcomer Jake W who gave his all but ended up with the Teeter Award for the Person who tried everything but came in last. Jake gets his $10 back.

We should also note, we tried something new here - a one-time handicap adjustment, conceived to give a boost to players who haven't had the best luck so far this season. Points from 1 to 5 were awarded based on the player's point average. Interestingly, despite her handicap award, Jana E won the night outright, without having to count on those extra points. These points were awarded above and beyond the usual point system, hence setting up the possibility that someone could have achieved a 65 out of 60. The day of the perfect score still remains an elusive dream for Pub Nighters.

See you then!

UPDATED APRIL 20, 2011

Curling is over and it was the best one yet! 32 curlers signed up for the time of their lives, and it was a battle royale. Congrats to the winning team - "Keith's Woody" - John A, Carolyn A, Joe S & Sharron J!!

It should be noted that Sharron also managed to become the night winner through her impressive trivia & ball bouncing skills. Not only that, but she overturned Tim B's 3 year old curling record, beating it by one point for a new high score of 43 points.

Congrats to newcomer Lee Ann C for having the highest trivia score! And to newcomer Paul P for the highest ball bouncing score!

Curling was a great success! This is one of the most fun events of the year, thank-you to all that bought tickets, supported the draws, and to those who generously supplied prizes & their time, including Nancy L who worked hard & long on creating a massive Prize Table & great chili. Wife Tara M also makes some mean chili - THANK-YOU! Also thanks to Da Silva Catering for a great meal, and Michelle at Brampton Curling Club for putting up with us. Next year is already booked! If I've forgotten to thank-you here, please email me and I will hang my head in shame.

Next up is our final trip to the bar for a true "Pub Night"! If Curling was your first event, you must attend the next two events to have an equal shot at winning the MacKinnon Challenge Cup & the $200 prize!

See you in May!

UPDATED FEB 22, 2011

Pub League Year Four commenced with an enthusiastic turnout. 14 pub leaguers battled it out, with Michelle B taking the night and $80. Casey W placed 2nd; Rick D wins the trivia; and missing-in-action Ronnie C won the Teeter Award for the person that tried everything and finished last. A bit of a fall from the top, for last time we saw Ronnie, he was the night-winner... but Ronnie's courage should inspire us all.

Winner Michelle B celebrates with runner-up Casey W & fellow Pub-Nighter Jeff B.

This is a happy man. Jason E, putting the Pub back into Pub League, 9:30pm.

The night was particularly fun, as Tara M took over running the Big Board, leaving Dear Leader to actually play the games. Turns out Pub Night is fun!

The 50/50 winner was Casey W.
